“Erma” gets her goal

Sounds like a book title, doesn’t it?

“Erma gets her goal.”

I couldn’t resist.

The “Erma” part?  You love calling your Mom “Nicky,” a name she always hated.  In return, because she has a great sense of humor (like you do, and everyone in your family), she calls you Erma to get even.

Grammy and I were both there, along with your Mom, watching you do your thing for the  Dover Middle School soccer team.  You were playing our old alma mater, Somersworth High School.  Blue vs. Green. Dover was the home team and it was late in the first half.

The score was 2-0 DMS when you took charge, running up along the right side of the field as a Forward, near the outer edge.  Seeing an open lane to the goal, you gave it a good, strong kick while running, letting the ball fly on a diagonal path, headed toward the goal.   Sort of a crossover move, but intentionally aiming at the goal vs. passing to a teammate (no one was there yet).  Their keeper missed it completely…

GOOOOOAAAAALLLLL

You finally had what you have been trying to get since making the team last month.

Way to go Erma, er, Emma, proud of you girl.  Never give up, try your hardest and keep up the great work.
